Michael Madsen joined the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club as Executive Chef in 2015, is a native of Denmark, and has been a resident of Naples, Florida since 2000. He attended the Culinary Institute of America and graduated from the Hotel and Restaurant Management School of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Before joining NSYC, Chef Michael worked for fine European hotels, luxury resort destinations in the U.S. and worldwide, and private Clubs, including Bay Colony Beach Club, Colliers Reserve Golf Club, and Miromar Lakes Country Club. Chef Michael is well respected in the area by his fellow Chefs for being an outstanding team builder and mentor to many Chefs in the area. Chef Michael has been featured on The Travel Channel’s “Great Chefs of the World.” He was elected “Culinarian of the Year'' by professional chefs of the American Culinary Federation.
The New York Times cited Madsen for “Best Food” at the 1993 Presidential Inauguration when he was the owner of a fine catering company serving clients in Washington, D.C., including the U.S. Department of State, the Smithsonian Institution, CBS, PBS, foreign embassies and many prominent Washington hostesses. Chef Michael also held the prestigious position of Executive Chef at the Royal Danish Embassy, where he was responsible for all Danish official state functions in the U.S. Capital. During his tenure in Washington, Madsen wrote the recipes for the chapter about Denmark for the book Great Embassies of Washington, D.C. During his spare time, Chef Michael spends quality time with his wife Kelly, and dogs Alfie and Belle
